Through establishing several lifeguard companies operating in hotels in Turkey, founder Robert Glærum identified a need for improving child safety when on holiday. He founded Liberimap AS with the aim of developing a tracking system for families; allowing parents to locate their children if they became separated within the hotel area. K8 has worked together with Liberimap to develop the product: Kiddo tag.

The design process had to bring together the needs of the child, parents, hotel staff and those producing the parts. Thus, the casing had to be impact resistant and water-tight - allowing children to play freely - easy to clean for use with the next guest and allow for simple battery replacement by authorised personnel. Additionally, the product was to be produced in Norway using automated production techniques.

The selected design packs a lot of functionality into few parts - keeping the construction and assembly simple, reducing the resources needed and keeping costs to a minimum. The Kiddo tag system is still awaiting funding, before we will proceed with production and launch.
